The Afsluitdijk Wadden Centre is home to our interactive experience centre, where you can learn about the Netherlands’ achievements in the areas of safety, nature and tradition. Themes such as the province of Fryslân, the IJsselmeer, the Wadden Sea and the Fish Migration River take centre stage. You enter the experience centre through our impressive storm room and then travel past inspiring presentations, interactive elements and special views of the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea. In short: an educational and fun outing for the whole family!
Entrance & admission
The experience center is open every Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission to the experience center is €4.00 for children aged 4 to 11 and €6.50 for visitors aged 12 and older. Children aged 3 and under are admitted free of charge.

Themes
Our interactive experience centre takes visitors on a journey through various themes that together tell the story of the Afsluitdijk.
The exhibition has recently been updated. It focuses on three main themes: the Fish Migration River, the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea, and the province of Fryslân. Visitors discover, among other things, what the Netherlands has to offer in terms of safety, nature and tradition. The focus is on experience, which is reflected in the storm chamber and during a “real-life” balloon flight over Friesland. The experience centre can be visited entirely at your own pace and takes an average of 45 to 60 minutes. Once you have seen everything, we recommend ending your visit on our roof terrace, where an impressive view awaits you.
Presentation
In addition to a regular visit to the experience center, we also offer an informative presentation about the Afsluitdijk. This presentation lasts approximately 20-30 minutes and provides in-depth information about both the history and the technical and ecological aspects of this iconic dyke project. The presentation is available from €195 and is given by an experienced guide. Afterwards, you can visit the experience center to further explore the topics covered. During this follow-up, the guide will remain available to answer additional questions and provide further explanation.
The price quoted does not include the entrance fee for the experience center.
Treasure hunt Bobby Fish
A Bobby Fish treasure hunt has been developed especially for our youngest visitors. Bobby Fish has hidden himself in various places throughout the experience center. Can you find them all? If so, a tasty surprise awaits you at the reception desk. There is also a fun play table and drawing table in the exhibition for children.
